  All in ones have the absorbant nappy bit, and the waterproof cover sewn together. All in one nappies are great for quick changes, they change as easily as a disposable, but do tend to be more expensive and can be difficult to get dry.

• Stuffable

  With a stuffable nappy, you stuff absorbant pads into a pocket in a waterproof outer. If you stuff your nappies once they are washed and dry, stuffables are just as easy to change as all in ones, but quicker to dry. They also tend to be quite pricy and quite bulky.

• 2 Part Shaped Nappies

  Shaped 2 part nappies are quite easy to use, with the added protection of second layer in the form of a waterproof wrap. They are a little bit slower to change as you have 2 layers to put on, but tend to be quite a bit cheaper.

  Flat nappies are the cheapest way to do cloth nappies. There are 2 basic choices – terry squares and prefold inserts. Terry squares are very cheap and very reliable, but require quite a lot of folding. Prefolds are easier to fold, but less reliable.

  Waterproof wraps are essential pieces of kit with 2 part shaped nappies and flat nappies. You don’t have to match brands, just choose the designs that suit you. You will need about 1 wrap for every 4 or 5 nappies.
